Smokey Eyes Makeup
42 Smokey Eyes Makeup ideas with tips and applying description. Choose Your Smokey Eye Look
Choose The Right Brands
The quality of your makeup depends very much on the quality of the makeup items that you use. There are hundreds of brands in the market and not every
brand that claims to be the best in the industry is actually good. Choose the right brands to create brilliant effects. This is also important in terms
of your own safety. As the skin is the most sensitive organ of the body, you should use only reputed brands that have made extensive researches on
safety and side effects. Using harsh makeup items can ruin your skin resulting in anything from temporary side effects to permanent damages. So
choosing the right make also means choosing the right brands for your makeup items.
Understand Your Skin Type
It is important that you understand your skin type first so that you can choose the right kind of makeup items for your skin. It is not enough to match
the shades with your complexion but it is even more important to choose your makeup style to match your skin type. You should know whether your skin
type is – oily, dry or normal. The makeup procedure will vary from one skin type to another. It is important that you go with the procedure that suits
your skin type. Many women fail to pay attention to this factor and they just pick the makeup items that they fancy in their local store. If required
you should get help from an authorized local beautician in this regard. This does not mean that you need to visit the beauty parlours every time you
are getting ready for a party.

This is a classic smoky-eyes make up. In the pictures you can see gray and blue eye shadows, however, if you can apply it in any colour you like. Remember about couple of simple rules: the colours of your eye makeup should be different from the natural colour of your eye as otherwise your eyes may appear as washed out. So for brown eyes blue eye-shadows are a good choice, whereas for blue eyes some dark-gray colours may be more appropriate. The golden rule here is to try it and see whether the colours suit you or not. To apply the makeup you need:
- Brush and/or eye shadow applicator
- Eye makeup foundation
- Eye shadow palette of one colour or two colours in similar tones, e.g. blue and gray (in the picture and the below description its gray and blue eye shadow palette that is used)
- Eye pencil - should be the same colours as the eye shadows
- Mascara
Step 1: Apply the eye makeup foundation – your make up will last longer as the eye shadows will not slide off
Step 2: use delicate highlight colour in the inner corner of your eye (in our case it’s light blue)
Step 3: Starting from the inner corner, apply blue eye shadow to your upper mobile lids
Step 4: Starting from the outer corner, apply gray eye shadow to your mobile lids finishing in the middle of your eye lid; apply some (not too much) in the crease as well
Step 5: Apply the gray eye shadow on your lower lid, under the lower lashes (from outer to inner corner); alternatively, use the eye pencil under the lower lashes, but remember to brush it away
Step 6: use the brush to blend the colours on your eyelids to achieve the smoky eye effect. Brush away some shadows from the crease upwards, about halfway to the eyebrow
Step 7: Finish off by applying the mascara.

This rainbow makeup option can be a good choice for a holiday party. Again, you can choose your own colour for it, but the golden rule here is the contrast between the colours. If you use the shades of the same colour or if you apply colours that blend you will not achieve the rainbow effect. To apply the makeup you need:
- Brush and/or eye shadow applicator
- Eye makeup foundation
- Eye shadow palette of high contrast colours
- Eyeliner
- Mascara
Step 1: Apply the eye makeup foundation – your make up will last longer as the eye shadows will not slide off
Step 2: Apply red eye shadow under the eyebrow; apply the same shadow to your lower lid from inner to outer corner
Step 3: In the inner corner apply the highlight yellow eye shadow finishing in the middle of your eyelid
Step 4: Now, cover the inner eye lid with green eye shadow; you can use two shades of green here and blend them with brush on your eye lid. Brush it away through the crease till you reach the red line applied before.
Step 5: Apply bright pink eye shadow to the outer corner of your eye
Step 6: Apply bright purple eye shadow above the pink eye shadow in the crease; brash it away till you reach the red line applied before
Step 7: Delicately, blend the shadows in the places where they ‘meet’ to achieve the ‘gradient’ effect
Step 8: Use the eyeliner to draw a line on your upper lid; you can also draw one on your lower lid if you want to achieve a festive look
Step 9: Apply the mascara
Tips:
In the picture you can also see the crocodile skin effect on the forehead and temples. This was done by a makeup artist with a use of special foil. Then, using the big brash apply different eye-shadow colours across (yellow, brown and red were used in the picture) and remove the net. This should be done before applying the eye makeup.
For shimmer lips effect, use bright red lipstick – apply as much as you can. Then, dry your mouth with a tissue. Next, apply golden eye shadow and blend it with the lipstick on your lips.

Natural-eye makeup is one of the most difficult to achieve. The secret is to choose the eye shadow so it matched the natural shade of your skin. If you choose to dark one, your eyes will have the ‘tired’ look. Too bright eye shadow may give you the look of a panda bear. If you choose your colour right, then applying the makeup is easy.
To apply the makeup you need:
- Brush and/or eye shadow applicator
- Eye makeup foundation
- Brown/beige/golden eye shadow – matching the colour of your skin
- White eye pencil
- Eyeliner
- Mascara
Step 1: Apply the eye makeup foundation – your make up will last longer as the eye shadows will not slide off
Step 2: Apply the eye shadow to your upper eye lid and the crease; use more eye shadow in your crease; from crease blend the eye shadow upwards, towards the eyebrow so you achieve the gradient effect
Step 3: Apply the eye shadow to your lower eye lid
Step 4: use the white eye pencil to draw a line on your lower lid, just below your eyelashes; start from the inner corner of the eye
Step 5: As an option you can use a eyeliner to draw a line on your upper lid
Step 6: Apply the mascara
